Thanks, Leah!!!! U always have good tidbits bits to help improve our musicality. Love ur teaching style!!! Keep up the good work!!!!
Rhythm is the skeleton, and jazz is a blob.
Cromátic
Completely right. Good to put this in the spotlight. ❤❤ (I'm lucky and never have to think about/study the rhythm.😅)
Thanks, Leah! Your instructions and advice are “spot on”! Terrific teaching…
Thks!
Excellent video, lesson I take piano and guitar lessons. I play the baritone ukulele and guitarle . So this does help.
Great video, so very helpful. I will watch this video again and again. Thanks so much.
Hmm... gotta try this
hace años que practico esta forma de estudiar y Sí¡ , funciona.
Thanks, very helpful
Top tip, I love it :-)
That's some very good material, keep it up!!
Leah I can play at home but in my lessons it all falls apart. I play wrong notes and say stupid things when reading even though I know the notes, my teacher is lovely. Any tips?
A very common problem, Louise, when we feel under pressure, even with a friendly teacher, our brains seem to freeze! You can improve things with the practice tips in the link below, but also look for my video about stage fright as this is essentially what’s happening 😊 Learn New Music Fast With These Piano Practice Techniques! ua-cam.com/video/0PETzRI77YM/v-deo.html
That’s me right now , I spoke to my teacher about this just yesterday
Great video. I identify with everything you said and your tips make a lot of sense!
🎉 thank you
I think you are fantastic! Anyone who shares their knowledge freely is. Thank you for a lovely video.
She is Great!!! Not to many teachers break-down these Rhythm like her. She is giving so much Great. God bless you for giving lessons that others are not giving.
Intervals! What an amazing concept :D I'm just beginning to learn piano and I think that will help a lot - Many thanks.
Good to know
hi, may i ask this. basically 1 e & a becomes 1 - e - an - da ? that's alright ?
Yes, that’s correct 😊
❤❤❤
Very interesting! I remember ixi music also used the same term to refer to these, now I see why!
I never realised why there's so many songs that use the same three chords, but that makes so much sense
Thanks for such a great tip
Absolutely amazing method, it did wonders for me today and I will definitely use this often from now on! Thank you soooooo much! <3
I started to learn piano at 7. Stopped at 10. Started again at 13. Stopped again at 16. Even after all that, I couldn't read music. I haven't had a formal education since, I'm 28 and was never able to read the music I was playing. I know all my music by heart, learning a new piece is a struggle, I'd have to write down every letter next to the note, going by the "every good boy..." sentence, to teach myself. Sight reading was magic to me. I never learned about gbd face or intervals, and it baffles me, how my teachers could have missed that. Thank you for teaching me, maybe I'll finally be able to learn a few new pieces now, adding to those I've been playing by hear for 15+ years.
You definitely will, and at 28 you’ve got a good 60-70 years of playing ahead of you, so I predict it’ll be more than just a few! 🥰
Thank u for ur encouragement and solid ideas why we shouldn’t give up!!! I’m not the quitting type but I have recently been really considering it. I’ve been back at it for almost 3 years, and really feel like progress is slow coming!!! Your video came at just the right moment when I was seriously considering throwing in the towel!! I can’t thank u enough!! Many of ur videos feel like they’re written just for me & have given me hope to stay the course!! Thank u for all u do!!!
You’re very welcome, Sandy, here’s to your continued progress at any speed 🥰
Thank u!! Thank u!!!! I’ve returned to piano after nearly two decades and while thoroughly enjoying it, I’m struggling with both performance anxiety & solid memorization. Thank u for all the information but specifically showing us how u analyze ur music. I’m excited to try this w a piece I just started working on. I have been getting very frustrated w myself and have considered that maybe I really can’t do this at my age (63)!! But you’ve given me renewed hope!!!! Thank u again!!!
63? You’re only a young thing yet - you can definitely do this! 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I find if i have heard the piano piece then i find it easier to sight read - crazy i know. I will now dust off my music books and have a go again. I enjoyed your style of teaching 🌻 calling from South Africa 🌻
Not at all crazy, Elizabeth, you can incorporate listening and following the score into your preparation for learning a piece, it’s really helpful. 😊
You're awesome
"There is nothing you can't harmonize with just those three chords" ..the 1 4 5. Wow. That is simple yet very insightful theory that I never thought of. Thank You🙏
i’ve been playing music for years & always had trouble jamming with people, i’ve gotta try this! & keep it up, you’re videos are super helpful!
'There's a trick to it.' Yeah it's called practice
Absolutely, goes without saying 😁
Wow! I never knew this, thanks! 😃
Damn that's neat, thx (:
How cool is this chiciy
Very cool
Thanks for this!
Easy to understand, thank you!
2024: Just sat my AMEB Grade 2 exam. I received an “A”. I am 73 your. So, your never too old to learn.
Fantastic - well done! 🥳👏👏👏
Thank You!!! Big hug from Chicago.😊
lol this is definitely not a good practice method for me personally. I tried it with a piece I’ve been working on and it basically just made me mix up all the measures for the entire first half of the song and made it way harder to remember what I was playing. Maybe this would work better if I was learning a song from scratch but for a song I’ve been working on for some weeks it definitely messed with my brain a bit too much
Oh dear! 😅 Try it from the start of the next piece you start , before you start to memorise 😊
I have been using this to learn songs from scratch, and it works very well. I don't cover up anything, I just focus on the bars myself and then do the same as in the video! It works very well for that!
